The Girl Who Turned Pain Into Power” is a poetic and performative short film starring Maju, a 12-year-old Black Brazilian girl who transforms her pain into art. Set in an all-white room, she paints with her hands, her words, and her emotions, revealing a journey of self-empowerment, identity, and bold leadership. This film is a visual manifesto about courage, representation, and the power of speaking out loud — even when the world asks you to whisper.

Maria Julia Gonsalves Crecencio, also known as Maju Crecencio, is a 12-year-old Brazilian artist, gifted child, communicator, and content creator. With over 30,000 subscribers on YouTube, she gained national attention after participating in the TV show Pequenos Gênios (TV Globo), going viral for her talent in reverse spelling, and delivering a powerful speech in defense of education at the Legislative Assembly of Paraná. Black, creative, and determined, Maju uses art to express her experience as a brilliant and sensitive young Black girl in a world that still tries to silence voices like hers.
